Man who drove car into sinkhole has been arrested

You might remember the man whose car ended up in a sinkhole on West Liddell Road in Duluth after flooding damaged roads. I remember feeling very bad for him (and society) that his car was stripped of its radio and vandalized while it was down in the 6-foot-deep sinkhole.

The driver, Ira Strong, had told police that someone had moved the barricades, causing him to not know the road was closed. A witness told police that he saw the man move the barricades, and saw the entire incident from his back porch.

Ira Strong has been arrested, charged with tampering with evidence, failure to stay in a single lane, interfering with a police roadblock, and obstructing a police officer.

WSB-TV has a good article here with more details if you are interested. They also have a couple photos.
