2 women tried to sneak drugs into Gwinnett County Jail

I'm still amazed by some stuff I read...can you imagine stuffing a cigarette pack full of drugs, placing it on the security scanner, then trying to snatch it back when you are being found out? It defies logic to me that anybody would even try this. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

On Thursday at about 8 p.m., Gwinnett deputies said Williams entered the lobby and placed items on the X-ray machine for screening. A deputy said he observed a cigarette pack with what appeared to be a bag and drugs inside. As he reached to take the item, Williams tried to grab it and began struggling with the deputy, officials said.

Investigators stated that during the struggle, Wilkerson entered the building and began fighting with the deputy and another sheriff’s deputy who came to assist. Deputies said Wilkerson was able to grab a small white bag of powder and run to the parking lot. Deputies subdued Williams and captured Wilkerson in the parking lot, officials said.

Investigators said they recovered the bag of powder, which tested positive for methamphetamine. A second bag of pills that Williams later said was Xanax was also seized at the X-ray machine, investigators said. Scales and bags were found in a vehicle the two were occupying, Gwinnett Sheriff’s Department said.
