Snellville Police News

Here are some of the shorter snippets of news from the Snellville Police Department's report for the month of January.

  • Officers responded to Auto Zone to meet with the manager who reported an employee theft. The employee had been stealing for over five years. He was taken into custody and booked on felony theft by taking charges.
  • An officer investigated an accident at Scenic Square. He ran the drivers on the computer to check the status of their licenses. One of the drivers was wanted for Kidnapping out of Gwinnett County. When the officer approached the vehicle, the driver fled. A brief chase ensued and the driver was charged with Attempting to Elude as well as the Kidnapping charge.
  • Detectives are continuing the investigation of reported abuse to a two year-old. The parents took the child to Emory Eastside Medical Center; then transferred him to Scottish Rite Hospital. While some of the apparent injuries are explained by medical conditions, an expert at Scottish Rite Hospital believes some of them to be consistent with abuse. The child is developmentally disabled as well, further hampering the investigation. Charges are expected soon against the baby sitter.
  • Several Officers assisted Gwinnett County with a Burglary in Progress at Magill Elementary, with a possible Burglary in Progress on Grayson Parkway near North Crestview and with the track of a suspect who fled from Gwinnett officers on foot south of Everson after a traffic stop.
